When Dr. Charron Skandera was growing up in Pinellas Park, Florida, she wanted to become a veterinarian to "prevent animals from suffering when they provide us with so much unconditional love". She enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, but especially surgery.

A graduate of St. Leo College and Iowa State University's College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Skandera loves Boston Terriers and has two- Frisky and Lucy. She also enjoys Miniature Horses and has Gee-Gee (who just had a colt), Thelia, Eclipse, and Eddie.

It's no surprise that when Dr. Skandera is not in the office, she enjoys riding. She also likes to bake, spend time with friends, and travel. Her travels have taken her to China to learn acupuncture and to Kenya to learn about conservation and species management.

Dr. Skandera says it was the friendliness of the city of Lakeland that drew her here. She also cites the "family atmosphere" at Cleveland Heights Animal Hospital as the most important reason that she chose to join the practice after her  year's internship at Hollywood Animal Hospital.  Welcome, Dr. Skandera!
