Judi Rought Paws N’
Action After living most of my life in Maryland, my husband and I relocated to Lakeland, FL. in 1991. I currently own a canine obedience training business called “Paws N’ Action”. I have 20 years of experience in training dogs, this began with my Shetland sheepdog named Lassiter. Lassiter was a very shy little dog, knowing that I needed to help him live a happy life, we signed up for an obedience class. The change in him was so remarkable, that I decided to work with dogs and their owners, leading me on my way to a fascinating and very rewarding career in this field. Ten years of working in the veterinary field and learning under some of the most exceptional doctors and staff, gave me the understanding and knowledge of dogs needed to further my career. Imperial Polk Obedience Club (IPOC) is a local volunteer dog club that has been an important part of my life since 1992. For the past 5 years I have been the training director, which includes organizing classes, instructors and teaching classes. For 2 years I served as President for IPOC. Always striving to learn more about dogs, I attend numerous seminars to learn new but gentle effective ways of training to teach to my clients, I just love what I do! Having 5 dogs of my own that I love to work with in my extra time, we have obtained AKC Obedience & Agility titles. They know when it is time to work, which they have fun with. My approach is to assess each owner and dog by getting an understanding of what the problems are, along with how much time and effort will be given to achieve a “good mannered” companion resulting in the relationship that they desire. My years of experience has taught me that there is no one way to teach every dog and owner, or to cure every problem. The one consistency with my training is to make sure that the experience is a positive one for people and dogs alike. The reward for me as a trainer is seeing the bond that has been built between people and their dogs. |
