      Dr. Vanessa Orasky

Dr. Vanessa Orasky grew up in the tiny town of Norwalk, Iowa, and moved to Lakeland in 1997. She tells us that she got her “foot in the door” – both to veterinary medicine and Cleveland Heights – about 8 years ago when she started working at CHAH.

She had always wanted to be a veterinarian (even since before she could spell the word!)  and feels that Dr. Houghton was an incredible mentor to her. While working at CHAH in those early years, she served as receptionist, cared for guests in the Lodge, and then worked as an assistant in the lab. All of that experience served her well, as she continued her path toward her DVM by studying at Iowa State University in the under-graduate level, and graduating from the Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. 

Vanessa and her family - husband, Jeff Orasky, and their four cats made the move to Lakeland and are happy to be close to Vanessa’s Mom and Dad, as well as renewing many relationships at CHAH. 

Dr. Orasky has particular interests in animal behavior, surgery, pocket pets, and exotics. She has a rare combination of knowing how Cleveland Heights runs from her previous experience here, and also knowing all of the newest trends in veterinary medicine due to her recent graduation. We are so pleased that Vanessa has come back as the veterinarian she always wanted to be! Welcome, Dr. Orasky, we are very proud of you!
