Dr. Scott Cornwell, MS, D.V.M.
Dr. Scott Cornwell, noted researcher, teacher, and veterinarian, has joined the staff at CHAH as Medical Director. Dr. Cornwell is a graduate of Clemson University with a BS in Biology and the University of Florida where he earned a Masters degree in Agriculture and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1982. He was awarded the first Annual Alumni Achievement Award from the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Florida in 2001 and he became board-certified as a Diplomate in the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine in 2003.
Dr. Cornwell is not only an accomplished small and large animal practitioner, but is also a well-known humanitarian who has helped in re-defining veterinary medicine in war-torn countries throughout the world. Serving as a Colonel with the United States Central Command, Dr. Cornwell was the senior veterinarian who was responsible for providing guidance and establishing policy for Central Command’s areas of world-wide concern.
With his broad experiences, Scott brings another dimension to the CHAH veterinary staff. As a private practitioner in both large and small animal medicine and surgery in Ft. Myers and Arcadia, Dr. Cornwell cared for all types of animals. Now in Lakeland, he can continue to enjoy practicing veterinary medicine. His caring attitude typifies the Cleveland Heights approach to take the best care of the pets and their parents.
Dr. Cornwell is currently serving on a project concerning the CDC in Atlanta. We look forward to his finishing that term of service and returning to Cleveland Heights.
